Located in one of the most remote and extreme environments on Earth, the new Henryk Arctowski Station on King George Island is a testament to modern engineering and sustainable construction. This cutting-edge research facility is being built to replace the aging infrastructure of Poland’s key outpost in Antarctica, supporting vital scientific missions in glaciology, meteorology, oceanography, and ecology.
The project, led by Dekpol Budownictwo with architectural elements produced by Andrewex, involves transporting prefabricated modules across thousands of kilometers and assembling them under severe weather conditions. My photographic documentation captures not only the technical and logistical complexity of the construction process but also the dedication of the crews working in freezing temperatures and challenging terrain.

The photographs shown above were taken prior to the official media presentation of the station and its shipment to Antarctica. They depict just a small fragment of the entire research complex — one of the modular units where scientists will eventually live and work.
Once on site, the full station will be assembled in Antarctica by the construction teams of Dekpol Budownictwo.
